Outfit of the day - Friday 6th March - Shirt Obsession!!!

Today's dress down Friday work look

Today I teamed this awesome checked TopShop shirt with my high waisted leather look skater skirt.

This shirt is a recent purchase from Topshop and I have worn it a lot! This look is a great way to dress it up a little. The highwaisted skirt nips you in at the waist creating a great shape. But it also looks great with jeans and boots, and also wet look leggings and heels or trainers!

I have had this skirt a while so I have selected a few similar skirts that I think would also work really well should you like to recreate my look.

Have a fab weekend fellow fashion lovers

Outfits over the past 6 months - I’m an awful person I know!

It has been an insane amount of time since I have posted on Bex and the City, I didn’t even make it to Paris Day 2! Girls and guys….I’M SO SORRY!!

Here comes the defence:
Life has been pretty full on, I have changed jobs, I am moving into a part PA part internal communications role…the communications part I am VERY excited about.
My wonderful boyfriend bought a house and asked me to move in when it all went through…we get the keys on Friday AAAAAH!!!

But the main and quit embarrassing reason why I haven’t been blogging is because I moved out of the flat I shared with my best friend (she bought a house with her bf….so proud!) and I now do not have a mirror to take my pictures. I am still getting over not being able to take pictures in the mirror that helped me start my blog, any more. But it’s ok. I am getting over it and it is very much on the ‘house list of priorities’ to get a fabulous and flattering mirror so I can get myself back in the blogging game!

So I thought I’d do a quick post to catch up on the few outfits I have managed to take pictures of since I went  awol (just to clarify that is no link to the army in anyway it is me using it in a fun light hearted, I left my blog without permission kind of way) .

Final day at work outfit

For my last day at my previous employer which of course included leaving drinks, which of course included sambucca shots I wore this little ensemble

I teamed this wonderful bee like, embellished top with black tailored shorts, thick black tights and black high wedge shoe boots.

I could tell you where these are all from but it was over 6 months ago so it is unlikely any of it will still be in the shops (again sorry) but hopefully it'll give you ideas for outfits with clothes you have or have seen in the shops now.

To finish off the look I wore a black fedora hat and a clashing broad check jacket.

I used straighteners to get these little curls pulled out of an up doo,

 Moving day

Moving out of my wonderful flat in Surbiton that I had lived in for 2 years with my best friend. We had a blast. And even moving day deserves a little bit of fashion love, even if it has to be boringly practical.

I teamed my patchwork jeans with this bright comfy Coca Cola jumper and ever faithful white converse. Comfy, fun and practical.

New work outfit

So this outfit I can totally tell you where its from...well the blazer at least and thats the best part of this outfit anyway.

This gorgeous bright blazer is from Marks & Spencers - LINK
This link will take you through to the petite blazer as they do not sell the 'non petite' blazer online but they do have it in stores.
I love the shape of this blazer and the stretchy, lightweight material makes it super comfy and also a great purchase now that will see you through the spring and summer too!

I teamed it with a sleeveless high neck white shirt, peg-leg back trousers and black pointed stiletto shoes.

Wedding 1 of 2

I went to two weddings this year, a summer and a winter wedding...love a good wedding, which ever season!

My gorgeous cousin Kayleigh got married this summer.
To the wedding I managed to great (what I thought) was a nice wedding outfit wearing a very simple dress but adding to it with wonderful accessories.

The dress is a simple bodycon stretch dress from RiverIsland.

I then addes this wonderful navy fascinator from Accessories, along with a pair of navy leaf accessories (which I can't show you a picture of as all of my jewellery is pack away for moving house) and also a wonderful navy, pink and burgundy floral box clutch bag.

How dapper do these guys look!!! It was such a brill day!

Wedding 2 of 2

I splashed out a little bit on the dress for wedding 2 but not as much as it might have been as I got it in the sale! This gorgeous Karen Millen dress is a little bit to die for. I particularly like the ruching around the tummy, particularly handy when your event is two days after Christmas.

CHRISTMAS LOOK!

I actually LOVE this H&M Santa jumper, I literally want to wear it every Christmas forever.
Naturally I glammed it up a bit with peg leg trousers and red skyscraper heels!

For all you loyal BATC readers thank you soooo much for not leaving me, for any new readers HELLO I hope you enjoyed it!

My weekend and outfits in Paris - Day One

I'm not sure if it's just me of if other bloggers/fashion lovers feel the same, but I love the holiday packing process!

I love laying all of my clothes out and putting looks together, this way I know I have the right accessories for each outfit, I can pick 2-3 pairs of shoes that go with everything and then be mega chuffed at how lightly I've packed because I've been so organised.

My living room the day before Paris - oops!
Day One

For the early start and travel over to France on the Eurostar I wore a simple and comfy but also a little bit chic....I'm going to Paris after all leggings and a tank top just wouldn't do!

Top - H&M - £7.99
Trousers - H&M - £14.99
Scarf - RiverIsland (mint no longer available but coral gorgeous too!)
Necklace - RiverIsland (similar) - £12.00
Sandals - NewLook - £10.00 (IN THE SALE!)

Love these necklaces!

Evening One

We ended our first day in Paris with a trip to Le Durer, a wonderful little local restaurant...

...that does by far the best French onion soup I have ever had.

Ammmmmazing!!!
From Le Durer we went on to see the Moulin Rouge. If I'm totally honest I was a little underwhelmed with the show, I think we're very spoilt with the incredible shows we have on the West End so my expectations were, perhaps, unfairly high, but it was a great evening all the same.

To the show I wore this lovely maroon RiverIsland dress. It is a tricky dress in regards to underwear, it is very figure hugging, but being double layered it doesn't cling to the bumps you don't want clung on to.
RiverIsland only £28.00!
Similar shoes - Newlook - £12.00

Stay tuned for more of Bex and the city of Paris

Outfit of the Day - Sunday 22nd June

Sunday afternoon I popped into Richmond to see my gorgeous cousin and bride to be Kayleigh, to meet with the hen party as in a months time we're jetting off to Marbella for the hen doo.

For the super fun afternoon I wore my NewLook strapless jumpsuit.

I have had this jumpsuit a couple of years now and I LOVE it!!! It's so comfy, easy to wear, you don't get strap tan marks, it doesn't matter if you haven't tanned your legs and you can dress it up or down.

I went for a casual and simple look on Sunday with simple brown sandals and my Muru snowflake necklace.

AND LADIES YOU ARE IN LUCK...

Although I got this jumpsuit a while ago NewLook are showing almost identical jumpsuits this season.

Lots of my friends tell me that couldn't wear a strapless piece as they need to wear a bra so this is a perfect alternative.

A slightly more dressy version of the strapless jumpsuit, I think teamed with a statement necklace, heels and a fabulous up doo this piece would look incredible!

I am sooooo excited this jumpsuit is back and in more colours, I defiantly ordered the navy blue one today. Its just so easy, breezy and can be made to look fantabulous,

Happy shopping (you know you want to!)

Birthday Girl!!

This Tuesday I tuned the grand old age of 27, and what a birthday it has been.
My friends and I went out on Friday night for drinks to celebrate, to which I was my newly purchased Miss Guided dress.

(click on picture below to view dress on Miss Guided website)

I teamed the dress with these royal blue pointed stilettos from NewLook, I loved how it added a pop of colour

NewLook - £19.99
For my birthday drinks we went to 21, a lovely cocktail bar in the heart of Covent Garden

The waiters were so lovely, the nibbles we delicious and we had a really good night!

Celebrations with the family

For what I thought would be a nice quiet dinner with the family (which was actually a night full of laughter and prosecco - love it!) I wore this jumper, trouser combo.

I love this embellished H&M jumper (it has literally just hit the stores ladies!), I smartened the jumper up with a white shirt worn underneath, and wore a pair of black peg leg trousers, also H&M.

We had a wonderful evening in The Anglers in Teddington. If you're ever in the area I really recommend this pub, especially if the weather is good as it has a huge beer garden, a children's play area and the food is fab pub food!

The Anglers
Me and my crazy family!

Time for presents!!

I felt spoilt rotten this year with some incredible gifts from my friends and family.

I knew this year I wanted to get a really nice bag and so mum, dad and my brother joined forces to get me this amazing Kate Spade bag.
The girls in the Kate Spade store in Westfield were an absolute dream, they couldn't have been more lovely and even thought we bought the bag just a day before my birthday they gift wrapped it beautifully so I could open it the next day.

The boy did good!

I was also given this gorgeous Thomas Sabo charm bracelet from my very special man. We have recently come back from a long weekend in Paris (stay tuned for those outfits) so the Eiffel Tower was the perfect first charm, that brings back lots of wonderful memories.

From one of my fabulous friends I received this gorgeous Accessorize necklace (Thank You Nat!)

Naturally Prosecco was received along side this card that is just so incredibly true!!!
(Thank you Rach!)

Afternoon Tea at The Dorchester

My flatmate and I decided this year instead of giving each other gifts for our birthday's we'd take each other out for champagne afternoon tea, and where else is there to go other than one of the worlds most prestigious hotels - The Dorchester

We started off the day with bucks fizz and poached egg on spinach and an English Muffin.

I'm not much of a cook so was pretty please with the way these turned out, I am now the master of the poached egg!!

For such a special day I wanted to create a look that was summery and elegant.

I teamed this white H&M skater dress, with a simple single breasted black blazer. I accessorised the look with a gold bar Oasis necklace and tan wedge heels.

It was an absolutely wonderful afternoon, and the food was gorgeous!

Getting waisted...High Waisted!

As you'll have heard in last weeks Cover Flatter Flaunt featuring gorgeous Emily Jayne  (to read click here) one of the best ways to really show off an hour glass shape is to wear outfits that nip you in at the waist.
I too am an hour glass shaped young lady and here are two looks I've created recently that do exactly that.
Two very different shaped skirts but they have one thing in common, they are high waisted.

First up is this white blazer, lime green tee and black pencil skirt combo.

Get this look

The second of the looks is this high waisted leather look skater skirt and high neck cream jumper.
High waisted skater skirts are amazing! They work for so many different body shapes as well as hourglass:
For rectangle (or commonly known although I don't like the term boy shape) it'll create curves.
For top heavy ladies, it'll balance out your top and bottom half
Also for you pear shaped ladies who want to cover up your hips the skater skirt is a great way to do it and show off the smallest part of your torso.

Get this look
I've changed the top for this look as we're coming into spring and a roll neck might be a little too toasty now. I also think the print adds some fun to the outfit.

I absolutely love my Nica satchel, I got it at last years clothes show live. It is the perfect size for all your essentials. And although it looks teeny, with all of the different sections and pockets you can fit more than you'd think in it!
